subject biography:
Born
on
1915
at St.
Petersburg.
Between 1930 and 1932
he works
as an acrobat in a circus.
In
1931 Zzenov starts to work as an actor in the theater and in the movies.
Accused of being an American spy, in 1938, he gets arrested and sent to a
forced labor camp in Magadan.
In
1946 he returns to St. Petersburg, but gets arrested in 1949
again under the same charges
and
then
sent into exile in the Taimir Peninsula (extreme north).
There
he meets a thearical troupe and enters it in 1953.
Rehabilitated in 1954 he returns to Moscow where he continues
regularly his acitivities as an actor.
Zzenov
has
had roles in over 100 films, among them:
The
Warm Snow,
Care
for the Automobile,
End of
Saturn,
All
the King's Army,
The
Resident's Mistake,
Equipage,
The
man that I love.
H e
has
interpreted especially in the roles of the social hero
with a
positive character but also in comical roles.
Throughout his carer he has received many awards,
one of those as being the Actor of the People. He has written an
autobiography
called
The
Cuts.
Currently he lives in Moscow and
works as a Drama
Teacher
in the Institue for Cinematography.
