VIDEO ON-LINE: GIOVANNA GERMANETTO

Traduzione:

A sad episode, but maybe meaningful:: when my father,  I believe it was already near the end of the war, was already a bit bigger, he took me to a concentration camp. From this episode I remember how we arrived at the concentration camp, then I don't remember much else. I remember these four Italian officials, among them there was Vincenzo Vitello, who we later saw again in Italy, he was a professor, and he had written also a book about the war in Russia. They had prepared for me these four little toys: a small bed for the doll, a small chair, little flags, all those beautiful things.  We ate with them and I could see from far away  a large group of people.  Iaked who they were, and they were the Germans. I got frightened because the Germans caused fear.  When we had to wave them goodbye, they came to accompany us, we passed through the gate and they remained on the other side of the barbed wire, so I started to cry and I ran towards them.  Sombedy stopped me, but then my father told me that I cried all throughtout the journey, all the way, and then I fell asleep.  I was little.  This is a war recollection.
